On 27 February 2007, officers with the South Boston
Police Department and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department arrested 30
year old Kyle T. Darden. According to Inv. T.M. VanAernem, Darden was
arrested at 1213 White Oak Forks Road without incident. Darden was charged
with failing to register as violent sex offender and a Capias for an
additional probation violation. Both charges originate from Mecklenburg
County according to VanAernem.
According to VanAernem Darden was the
focus of a search that began on Friday, February 23rd when
officers with the South Boston Police Department and the Virginia State
Police attempted to arrest him at a residence on Spring Avenue in the town
of South Boston, when he fled from the area on foot.
VanAernem states that “the South Boston
Police Department has been receiving information to Darden’s possible
whereabouts since he fled from officers last Friday. Every lead that we
received, we followed up on over the last several days and it finally paid
off. We would like to thank all of the concerned citizens that have called
the department with information regarding this investigation.”
Darden was transported to the magistrates
office where he is currently being held without bond at the Blue Ridge
Regional Jail in Halifax.
