Sex offender Kyle Darden eluding officers

South Boston Police officers, along with members of the Virginia State Police, attempted to serve warrants on Friday, September 23, 2007 on 30 year old Kyle Terrel Darden who failed to re-register as a violent sex offender and who has an outstanding capias for probation violation from neighboring Mecklenburg County.

According to Lt. B. K. Lovelace of the South Boston Department, when officers approached the house he was believed to be in on Spring Avenue around 2:30 p.m., the suspect fled on foot from the home, running into the woods in an effort to elude police.

State Police had contacted Lovelace who was living in the South Boston area and had failed to re-register as a violent sex offender since February 2006.  Lovelace said it was discovered that during the investigation for Darden he was alerted by 35 year old Patricia L. Kent that the police were looking for him.

Kent was charged with obstruction of justice and released on a summons, according to Lovelace, who said the case remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Lovelace asks that if citizens see Darden in their community, that they contact their local law enforcement agency, the South Boston Police Department or the Virginia State Police.
