South Boston Town Council is expected to name its three members to
the
newly formed Public Service Authority which will oversee the
operation
of the joint water and sewer services for the Towns of South Boston
and
Halifax, as well as the surrounding urban area.
Last week County Supervisors named Doug Bowman to represent the
County
on the Authority while the Town of Halifax appointed Leon Plaster
and
Dexter Gilliam as its representatives. South Boston, which has been
considering its three appointments for several months now, is
expected
to make public the names of its members tonight.
Also tonight the Town will officially accept a state award for its
water plant operation.
Council will also sign a proclamation declaring May as Older
Virginians
Month, and members are also expected to approve a resolution which
calls for enhanced retirement benefits for public safety employees.
Following the regular business session Council will work on several
concerns raised about the upcoming fiscal year budget.
