Twenty year old Marcus S. Coleman of Marion Trail, Halifax, on Monday
morning pleaded guilty in Halifax County Circuit Court to the charge of
felony hit and run involving a fatality. Coleman had been arrested on
the charge back in June after nine year old Brandon Marqui Scott of
Llewellyn Avenue, South Boston died after being struck as he rode his
bicycle along Valley Drive on June 1, 2007.
Coleman left the scene of the accident without reporting it, and the
child was found by South Boston Police officers lying on the side of
the road with undetermined injuries. He later succumbed to the
injuries.
Coleman's sentencing will come after the first of the year, according
to prosecutors.
