PRETTY ENTRY IN CLOVER PARADE — Gerald Wayne Hatcher and Savannah Terry   rode beautiful horses in  down Main Street Saturday's Clover Parade which was very successful in raising funds for the Clover Volunteer
Fire Department. (TWMcL photos)

"We had a very good day," said Clover Fire Chief Bert Martin yesterday.
Martin had earlier been concerned about the possibility of rain for the
Saturday morning Clover Harvest Festival parade, but he encouraged
those who called to look at the weather forecasts which called for the
rain to move out and sunshine to move in. And that was exactly what
happened, he said.
"We were pleased with the turnout and took in some $19,000," he said,
noting that after expenses are paid, the department should clear
between $12,000 and $13,000, which he termed "a good day's work." The
event is the department's main fundraiser for the year.
There were five lucky raffle winners with Tommy Compton of Scottsburg
being the big winner of a $1,000 gas coupon with Leo Noblin of Clover
winning the second prize of a $750 gas coupon, Kenneth Harris of Alton
winning $500 in gas coupons for third place and Hank Humphries of
Vernon Hill winning fourth prize of $250 in gas coupons.
"We just appreciate the work of all our volunteers and thank people who
turned out for what we thought was a very good day," Martin said.
