Joseph A. Lonsway

Joseph A. Lonsway, 65, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday. He was a communicant of St. John’s Church and a member of the National Chapter Harley Owners Group. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marta; children, Julie, Mark, Matthew and Penny; brother, Thom Lonsway, and sister, Mary VanCuren, both of Fostoria, Ohio; sister, Rose Lonsway of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Posey Jacobs of La Grange, Ill.; two grandsons, Billy and Tristan; and nine nieces.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 27 in St. John’s Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria, Ohio. Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Road, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

Dorothy Frazier Smith

Mrs. Dorothy Frazier Smith, 80, of 3188 Hudson Road, Virgilina died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Berry Hill Nursing Home. She was born in Mecklenburg County on December 23, 1927, daughter of the late Roger Franklin Frazier and Minnie Coghill Frazier and was married to Talmadge Smith. She was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Stevens of Virgilina; sister, Mary F. Short of Danville; grandchildren, T.C. Stevens, Alicia Roberts, Dena McCready and great-grandchildren, Arica Matthews, Carlton McCready, Brendan McCready, Faith Roberts. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alma F. Comer.
Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at North Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Gault officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet today from 2:00-2:30 p.m. at North Fork Baptist Church.

Sallie Faulkner Bagley

Ms. Sallie Faulkner Bagley, 98, of 1044 Riverdale Drive, South Boston died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on August 26, 1910, daughter of the late Mr. James Faulkner, Sr. and Mrs. Lillie Irvin Faulkner. She was a member of St. Michael’s AME Church.
She is survived by one son, Mr. Leonard Bagley of South Boston; one daughter, Mrs. Delores Carrington of New York City, NY; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Bonnie Bagley and Mrs. Betty Faulkner, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s AME Church with Rev. Gloria Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home.
