Paul Edmond Daniel
Mr. Paul Edmond Daniel, 65, of 701 Greenway Drive, South Boston died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in South Boston on October 8, 1942, a son of the late Lennie Daniel and Vivian Williams Daniel and was married to Sharon Carmine Daniel. He was a member of First Baptist Church, an Army veteran and retired inventory supervisor with O'Sullivan Industries.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Amy Francis and husband Kenneth of Vernon Hill; a son, Sidney Daniel and wife Kim of South Boston and grandchildren Megan and Amber Czerniawski and Zackary and Gabriel Daniel.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 17 at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial was private.
Lucienne M. (Goupil) Goulah
Mrs. Lucienne M. (Goupil) Goulah, 91, formerly of South Boston, died August 6, 2008 at Niagara Hospice at Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Care Facility, Lockport, NY. She was born in Sherbrook, Quebec on December 31, 1916, the daughter of the late Aime and Rozanna (Giguere) Goupil.
She is survived by her daughters; Phyllis (Daniel) Zuba of Youngstown, NY, Dorothy (late Lawrence) Sortore of Niagara Falls, NY, Geraldine (Richard) Hyla of Niagara Falls, NY, Mary (late Howard) Herdle of Thompsons Station, TN and Bernadette (Gerald) Tubinis of Youngstown, NY and her sons, Michael (Cheryl) Goulah of Stephens City, VA and Richard (Sande) Goulah of Missoula, MT. She is survived by 30 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Daniel Zuba and Christopher Hyla; her brothers, Charles Goupil, Leo Goupil, David Goupil, Roger Goupil and Gerald Goupil and her sisters, Mary Sawyer, Ida Caya, Jean Gowel and Laura Bernier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating.
George Jiggetts
Mr. George Jiggetts 78, of Buffalo Junction, entered eternal rest Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston. Mr. Jiggetts was born in Mecklenburg County on July 14, 1930. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County and was a member of Saint John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction and a retired farmer.
Cherishing his memories are a wife of 59 years, Molly Jiggetts of Buffalo Junction; eight daughters, Queen Coleman (Roger), Louise Ogburn (Alfreddie Sr.) and Barbara Jiggetts all of Buffalo Junction, Carley Hargrove (Victor) and Regina Jiggetts all of Clarksville, Sarah Yancey (Preston) of Clarksville, Linda Faye Thorn of Wise, NC, Jobina Williams (Nelson) of South Boston, six sons, George Jr. of Skipwith, Horace (Peggy), Ernest (Yvonne), Roy (Lillie) of Buffalo Junction, Dybyrd (Patricia), Curtis (Dee Dee) all of Fredericksburg, 60 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Andrew Burwell (Peggy) of South Hill, and Bobby Lee Burwell of New York; four sisters, Isabell Feggins of South Hill, Emma Burwell, Dorothy Burwell, and Luvinia Burwell all of New York, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Jiggetts were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Saint John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction with Rev. Charles Sands officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Toney Lewis Watson
Mr. Toney Lewis Watson, (Flip) 48, of Victoria entered eternal rest Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Retreat Hospital, Richmond. Mr. Watson was born in Lunenburg County on February 14, 1960 to the late James and Ola Watson. At an early age Toney joined Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch. Toney enjoyed fishing and playing ball Ñ he was the best back catcher in the family.
Cherishing his memories are his wife, Forest Vernell Carrington Watson of Fort Mitchell, two step-sons, Gene and Riad Carrington of Fort Mitchell, eight sisters, Patricia Watson of Rehoboth, Betty Foster (Raymond) of Halifax, Juanita Gayles Faines, Bobby J. Henry, Annie Pulliam all of Chase City, Arlene Watson of Richmond, Carrie Gregory (Robert) of East Orange, NJ and Charlotte Bowman of Rehoboth, four brothers, Charlie Watson (Dora), Franklin Watson Sr. (Joyce), Edward Watson Sr. (Nannie) all of Chase City, and James "Bugman" Watson of Fort Mitchell, a devoted sister-in-law, Joyce Watson, four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and a host of uncles, aunts, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Watson were conducted at 12:00 Noon Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch with Rev. Fran Jackson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Parrilee M. Barnett
Mrs. Parrilee McPhail Barnett of 1023 Memorial Drive, South Boston died August 14, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 78. Born in Halifax County on December 16, 1929 to the late Mr. Frank McPhail and Mrs. Lucinda Green McPhail, she was married to the late Mr. Daniel Barnett and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barnett is survived by one sister, Ms. Almeria McPhail of South Boston, a caring niece, Mrs. Alicia Carrington of South Boston, a devoted nephew, Mr. T. J. Carrington and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Barnett was conducted on Sunday, August 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Terry officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends at the home, 1023 Memorial Drive, South Boston.
